On July 20, 2017, the seventh global Eunice Kennedy Shriver Day will be celebrated around the world, bringing together people with and without intellectual disabilities in various activities to honor the inspiration, impact and indomitable spirit of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the founder of Special Olympics.

Special Olympics Yankton will join in the Celebration with our “Experience Special Olympics...” event! This is an event for individuals and families to come learn more about Special Olympics in the Yankton community. If you or a family member have ever thought about joining Special Olympics, but just weren’t quite sure what it was like; if you or a family member ever thought about Volunteering with Special Olympics, but you weren’t sure what it involved; or if you or a family member have ever thought about becoming a Mentor as a Unified Partner, but weren’t sure what that even meant – this is the event for you.

We welcome you to come out to practice with the athletes, and visit with the Coaches, Unified Partners and Volunteers during our “Experience Special Olympics” event!

In the spirit of our founder, Special Olympics urges people of all ages to help us make the world a more welcoming place.

Please spread the word if you know of someone who might want to learn more about Special Olympics!
