GET THOSE TEAMS TOGETHER........

Many of you have participated in our most popular fundraiser in the past – the always exciting (and cold) Polar Plunge! Due to a number of factors, that hasn’t been held in the Yankton area for the past couple of years.

BUT, we are starting something else that is bound to be a lot of fun. THE AMAZING RACE CHALLENGE!!!! (See the attached flyer) This first one is scheduled for Sunday, May 6th at the Lewis & Clark Recreation Area. We have room for 12 teams of 4, who will participate in 12 challenges (some brain type, some brawn type – and some just a whole lot of fun!) As with the Polar Plunge, we are asking each team member to raise a minimum of $100 ($400 per team) – of course you can always raise more! J
ALL PROCEEDS WILL STAY WITH THE LOCAL SPECIAL OLYMPICS ORGANIZATION!

You may register by going to www.yanktonspecialolympics.org/race or via email at [email protected] or by contacting ME!

Get your teams together (only the first 12 teams will be able to participate this year – and we already have 1 signed up), raise a few dollars, and get ready for some exciting challenging fun as you support your local Special Olympics athletes!

Feel free to share! And let me know if you have any questions!

On July 20, 2017, the seventh global Eunice Kennedy Shriver Day will be celebrated around the world, bringing together people with and without intellectual disabilities in various activities to honor the inspiration, impact and indomitable spirit of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the founder of Special Olympics.

Special Olympics Yankton will join in the Celebration with our “Experience Special Olympics...” event! This is an event for individuals and families to come learn more about Special Olympics in the Yankton community. If you or a family member have ever thought about joining Special Olympics, but just weren’t quite sure what it was like; if you or a family member ever thought about Volunteering with Special Olympics, but you weren’t sure what it involved; or if you or a family member have ever thought about becoming a Mentor as a Unified Partner, but weren’t sure what that even meant – this is the event for you.

We welcome you to come out to practice with the athletes, and visit with the Coaches, Unified Partners and Volunteers during our “Experience Special Olympics” event!

In the spirit of our founder, Special Olympics urges people of all ages to help us make the world a more welcoming place.

Please spread the word if you know of someone who might want to learn more about Special Olympics!
